Product Overview

Would Joshua die the day he was born?

After twenty-four days in Medical City’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Dallas, Texas, Joshua was sent home with his parents, Paul and Alison. The doctors said, “If your son is alive in a year, bring him back and we’ll re-evaluate him.” The doctors couldn’t possibly have known what would take place over the next 15 years and 11 months.

Joshua’s will to live, mixed with the resolve and relentless fortitude of his mother and the determination of his NFL father would change the face of Myotubular Myopathy (MTM) and neuromuscular research. History was destined to be written.

It’s a story of a boy, a dog and a cure.

"The truth of the matter is nobody is perfectly normal. We all have various types of characteristics, but one thing is for sure; none of us are the same and none of us are completely different."

~Joshua Miles Frase ~ 2009 ~ 15 years of age

“Paul Frase and Alison Rockett have dedicated their lives to finding a cure to the cruel disease that afflicted their son Joshua. I never met Joshua but I have known Paul and Alison for years—and I marvel at their courage and determation. They have channeled their trauma into hope, a heartbreaking diagnosis into action. They are inspirations and their story is a testament to the indomitability of love.“

A beautiful journey of Joshua’s life depicting the strength and power he gave the people that he touched. True love, determination, and faith. This book is a love story that shows life’s challenges may be hard and trying, but the fruits of the journey are sweet and forever lasting.

Allison & Paul, I was blessed to be able to read Game Changer this week. I read it in a day, couldn't put it down, & shed many tears. What I knew about Joshua and your family's struggle previously, I mostly learned through Jim & Sabra. And I did see Joshua when he was perhaps 1 or 2 years old, I believe at Christin's wedding at Jim & Sabra's. Reading your book helped fill in the blanks. Just as you grieve Joshua & simultaneously feel excited about future treatments; as a reader, nurse practitioner, and family friend, I experienced similar feelings (no way even close to the degree you both did). But I guess what I want you to know is that you succeeded in helping the reader understand not only the scope of your emotions but also the impact Joshua had & continues to have on the world. Reading your book reminded me once again what a Mighty God we serve. Congratulations on a wonderful book, & my love to you both & Bella. Laura Clauss

I was lucky enough to get an early copy to read.. I have never experienced such emotion and feeling from reading something as I did with this book. To say that Paul and Allison have shown perseverance would be an understatement. I was humbled, happy, emotional, hopeful, and everything else all while feeling as if I was apart of the story. Everyone should read this book- it’s an incredible example of how faith and trust in yourself and your loved ones can get you through any situation the world brings you. You will not regret it.
